OUR TEAM

Jenn Owen, BASI Faculty

10+ years of experience

As a BASI Faculty member, Jenn facilitates teacher trainings throughout North America, mentors apprentice faculty, coaches student instructors, and works with clients here in El Dorado Hills. In addition to over 10 years of Pilates teaching experience, she has a degree in Kinesiology, a certificate in Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies, and continues to attend workshops such as Power of Aging led by BASI founder Rael Isacowitz.

Through her employment as a Hospital Rehabilitation Technician and her experience in rehab for her own injuries, Jenn discovered her heart lies with injury prevention and helping clients achieve their goals through the power of Pilates. In her free time, Jenn enjoys aerial arts, lattes, and cuddling with her two cats.

Christina Matassa, Senior Instructor

10 years of experience

Christina is a certified BASI Pilates® instructor. She has been teaching the BASI technique for 10 years. Christina began her Pilates journey after interning at a physical therapy clinic and seeing the benefits Pilates had on the patients. Her certifications include BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training, Pilates for Runners from APPI, and Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies from BASI. When she's not teaching, she loves spending time with her family, paddleboarding, and playing tennis.

Kellie Purcell, Apprentice

Kellie is a 46-year-old mother of two energetic children (ages 5 and 11), CSUS graduate, & Pilates enthusiast. Upon enduring several orthopedic surgeries she knew she had to change up her fitness routine. After doing Pilates a couple of times a week she noticed increased strength without joint pain. Kellie’s passion for Pilates recently led her to BASI. She completed the BASI Pilates teacher training program & is looking forward to helping others gain balance, strength, & flexibility with very little impact on the joints.

She has a certificate from BASI’s Injuries & Pathologies course and truly enjoys helping clients move safely and effectively. Working with people at all fitness levels is her passion, and she loves fostering a strong mind-body connection as she guides them on their Pilates journey. Watching her clients progress and grow in strength, mobility, and body awareness brings her so much joy and inspires her teaching every day!

Becky Dwyer, Apprentice

After 2 years of training as a client with BASI Pilates - El Dorado Hills, Becky is working toward becoming a BASI-Certified Instructor through their Comprehensive Teacher Training program and has earned a certificate in Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies. She found BASI while on a personal health journey seeking a highly structured methodology that could accommodate her specialized needs and physical limitations. After several months of working with the BASI EDH staff, she noticed a drastic improvement in her physical and mental well-being, which spurred her to revamp her lifestyle, prioritizing her health. She seeks to offer BASI clients the same enthusiasm for this practice that she has found, and embody empathy toward anyone struggling with their body or meeting their own fitness goals. Outside of the studio, Becky enjoys swimming, scuba diving, singing, and nature photography.
